Article III, section three, clause two states that Congress shall decide upon a punishment for perpetrator of Treason, as long as it is not directed towards the perpetrator's relatives or friends. Since cases of Treason are decided upon within the Judicial Branch, I would change this clause so that the Judicial Branch, joined with Congress, would decide upon a list of punishments for different levels of severity. This change would require a large meeting(s) to take place between Congress and the Judicial Branch to take place to decide the levels of severity of Treasons, and their rightful punishments. Because the Judicial Branch (federal courts) would accompany the Congress, decisions on cases and the list of punishments would be better informed. As well, with a set list of punishments for Treason criminals already set in place, punishments would be acted upon quicker.
